Mauser Featherweight Deluxe Adjustment

Sear Engagement (Creep):
The first step in adjusting a trigger is always sear engagement. Sear engagement controls the amount of creep or movement of the trigger before it breaks. The sear engagement is factory set at Timney but can be adjusted by the customer after purchase. With the rifle unloaded and cocked, engage the safety by pulling back towards the butt of the rifle. Using a 1/8 Hex wrench turn the screw clockwise until it stops. (When all the way in the safety will not move). Begin turning the screw slowly counter clockwise until the safety moves freely but the trigger doesn’t wiggle when the safety is engaged.

Overtravel is adjusted after sear engagement; with the trigger in the fired position, turn the screw clockwise until it stops and then counter clockwise one flat of the hex wrench.

Pull Weight:
Pull weight is adjusted by turning the screw clockwise to increase the pull weight and counter clockwise to decrease the pull weight. The screw presses against a spring as the screw is turned in the pull weight is increase and as it is turned out the pull weight decreases.

Awesome Upgrade
Installed this into my Santa Barbara K98 Musgrave in 308Win. Only problem is the rear tang on the old trigger acts as piller for the rear action screw. Had to "improvise" a spacer with correct size washers, but not difficult. Trigger set at 3 pounds. Rifle went from sub MOA to 1/4 MOA.

What Is Trigger Pull weight?

Pull weight is the amount of pressure, in ounces or pounds, required to fire the trigger. Or in other words, how hard you have to squeeze the trigger to shoot your rifle. Timney Trigger experts at our Phoenix, Arizona plant hand-test every trigger in its intended action and then set the pull weight at our factory standard, 3 lbs.

If you prefer a different pull weight you simply select it from the drop down above and your Timney Trigger will be customized to your preference.

The #1 reason to replace your factory trigger with a Timney is accuracy. A lighter, crisper, more consistent trigger pull will make you more accurate with your firearm.

Below is a guide for pull weight selection:

2-2.5 pounds

Light trigger pull weights are great for people shooting lighter weight rifles as they can help keep you on target during the shot. Also common weights for target shooting from a bench.

3-3.5 pounds

By far the most common trigger pull weights -this is great for virtually all applications including target shooting, hunting and 3-gun competitions.

4.0 pounds+

Heavy trigger pull weights are good for cold weather hunting or applications where you may be shooting with gloves on.
